the lights we used in the workshop |
The above images show our original trials, keeping the light directly in front of the model next to the camera and recording what shadows and lighting we had created. This was a very simplistic way to begin things so we could get used to manoeuvring the light and the camera.
We then decided to see what different effect we would get from having the light behind the model. The shadows it created were very interesting, and the way it illuminated Luca was also something very different to what we had tried before.

The above images are some of my favourites. We kept the light behind Luca, but moved the camera in front of him. The glow it created on one side of his body looked so interesting and professional, it was really impressive. We then had Ben sit with him and he only got a slight glow on one side of his face but I still really like the way these shots turned out. They're definitely my favourite. I took these photos from the screen on the camera.
We then tried a completely different scene in which we only used a small desk lamp to illuminate the whole scene. This was a really interesting change, and in some ways harder to manipulate because we had to light up the whole scene using one lamp. However, I'm really pleased with how our shots turned out. We managed to create a very moody atmosphere, with very low and dark lighting.
This was the main angle we shot at.

I found this workshop really fun and interesting. It was really good to have a chance to play around with lighting and see what sort of moods you can create just from a single light.
